Halima Athumani

Halima Athumani is an award-winning digital and broadcast journalist based in Kampala, Uganda. A 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Audio Reporting with National Public Radio, she has, for close to two decades, reported on politics, elections, security, health, human rights, the environment, and social affairs for prominent media outlets such as Voice of America, National Geographic, Al Jazeera, The Washington Post, the BBC, and NPR. Halima hosts the podcast Unpaid Debt on the ongoing war crimes trial in Sweden and is pursuing a Master's in Human Rights at Makerere University. In Uganda, Halima Athumani worked for the Uganda Radio Network, a local news agency, and 93.3 KFM (Nation Media Group), reporting and anchoring prime time news.
